| Certainly an interesting development, given that I've always painted Jackie as a pro-democracy guy. I recall reading some years ago where he was criticising the Chinese government and that led to his then upcoming movie (I think it was The Myth) being banned throughout mainland Chinese cinemas. Way to bring the pain!
I'm not sure what to really make of these latest comments by Chan; I do think thought that there is validity in the whole 'control' issue considering the sheer size of China. If it broke up into independent nations (which will probably never happen), then the last remains of the communist ideology in China could be locked away.

| I agree with Raoul... however it seems that Chan's candor and delivery make him sound more like a stand up comedian. Which, upon further thought, may have been the intent. | |

| Well it's more than likely. I guess we really can't say that Jackie is the most predictable of the ageing (Aus. spelling) HK stars. | |

| I like to watch Jackie Chan do crazy stuff on film. I don't care about his real-life opinions.
Will his statements have any clout? Will they create policy change? Will they make other people stand up and demand less freedom for Chinese people?
If the answer is no, then...... | |
